Five days in and I’m pissed off…
Flake season is here.
‘Tis the season for time wasters.
Suppliers are slow. Staff are super slow. Sign-off is so slow that it may as well be in the morgue.
Now, I’d love to say it’s different here. It isn’t.
Staff isn’t an issue, plus my obsession with automation means work gets consistently churned out.
B-U-T there is one area of weakness…
A weakness that this time of year always exposes….
In the past week, I have sacked three members.
Now don’t get me wrong, the vast majority of men here are solid as a rock.
But three have had to take a bullet in the back of the head.
And once you’re out, there is no getting back in.
Many would say I’m crazy to kiss goodbye to money like that.
Yet, I look at things another way…
Standards matter.
And as Winston says:
“How you do anything, is how you do everything.”
I hold myself and the men here to a higher standard, it’s how they make the big bucks.
These standards protect their pocket and the other men around this table.
Meaning, if you don’t play by my rules and hold those standards?
You will be shown the door.
And this is a valuable lesson in this game, especially at this time of year.
In your business, you hold all the cards.
You set the rules…You set the tone…You set the standards.
I strongly urge you to set high standards.
Reputation and trust are hard-won and easily lost.
Let folks mess you around and there will always be some d-ckhead that tries it on.
Set standards and stick to them.
Ruthlessly.
Will it cost you money upfront? Maybe.
Yet saving the time, energy and effort of N-O-T dealing with this sort of folk?
Chances are your profit in 2025 will thank you for it.
