Divorce, dread, and your £1M+ dilemma

My brother got divorced…

And that’s the only reason I can now share this story. 

I figure, once someone becomes an ‘ex’ it’s a green light for even the torturous of tales to come out of the closet.

And this one, well, it’s a gooden.

It comes back to my most dreaded social situations…

One I suspect that has happened to you too – more than once.

It’s friends & family asking for favours from your business.

For me, that means asking for advice. 

Business advice.

Now, it’s not the asking that bothers me.  

I’ll stand tall behind anyone who’s trying to stand on their own two feet. 

It’s the ‘small-minded thinking’ that’s laced in the questions that really grinds my gears. 

Let me explain…

My brother and his ex lived in New Zealand. 

Last year, over a video call, it was dropped that she’s starting a business and wants some advice.

Against my better judgment, I give it.

For free.

I recommend a book.

Tell her to read it.

And then explain if she follows it step-by-step it will get her exactly what she wants.

Here’s where it gets interesting.

Two weeks rolls around… 

I hear nothing. 

Then three.

Then four. 

Finally, I sent a WhatsApp and asked how the book was going…

It gets this response.

“Oh I’ve not got it yet, they don’t have it for free at the library.” 

Hmmmmmmmm.

‘Course you fcuking haven’t.  

So, you want to set up a business that will need you to invest time, money, and parts of your soul… 

But you don’t wanna spunk twenty quid on a book? 

Small-minded thinking indeed.

A classic case of your actions not matching your desires.

And a sure-fire way to lose at anything.

Money: If Your Actions Are Not Congruent With Your Goal, The Money Will Not Move.

Now here’s the rub.

I’d love to say that this kind of small-minded thinking is exclusive to the mass mediocre majority, but that would be a lie. 

I see far too many good men also get caught in the same trap. 

Case in point this conversation with an Alliance member the other week.

“Charlie, I’m sending personalised chocolates as a ‘thank-you’ to clients after we finish their house… Any ideas on what I can send that is cheaper…”

Understand that projects for this member are priced in the thousands.

Meaning a £30 sugary snack to say ‘thanks’ is less than a drop in the ocean.

Needless to say, my words of wisdom were this:

“You’re focusing on the wrong number my friend and you’re thinking too small.”

See, in this game, profitably scaling to 1M+ needs you to think bolder and action quicker.

It’s why my S.A.S protocols are this.

Simplify what you offer so you can profit bigger. 

Automate and systemise so you action faster. 

Scale out so you capitalise quicker.  

It comes to keeping your eye on the prize and it’s how…
