Yesterday, I came home to chaos.
From the outside, the house looked normal.
Yet as soon as the key was in the door, it was clear something had happened.
The hall was stacked with boxes.
So was the kitchen.
The lounge looked like a hoard of toddlers had torn through it…
Packaging, paper, and sellotape were everywhere.
In the middle of this chaos sat my wife.
Crossed-legged on the floor, scissors in hand.
Despite the chaos around her, she looked calm.
The TV was on, I looked at the screen…
Ahhhhh.
Home Alone.
“Christmas shopping much?” I asked.
She gave me ‘the look’ and carried on wrapping gifts.
Now, I agree that no one wants to hear about Christmas before December…
… But the truth is, in anything that I do, I’m all about being ‘early doors.’
Getting a jump start.
In my experience, it always means when others start to panic, you start to profit.
Which at Christmas means spending December knee-deep in pigs in blankets.
… While for the rest of the masses, well, 25th December rolls around it’s a surprise.
Again.
They end up scrambling, sweating and grabbing anything they can.
The funny thing is, the same goes for this game that you and I choose to play…
Right now, some men are getting their ducks in a row.
Making moves on what they want out of 2024.
So when the new year rolls around, they’re already on it.
Their machine already motoring – at pace and firing on all four cylinders.
Whereas other men choose (and it is a choice btw) to wait.
Leaving planning 2024 until January.
Maybe they’ll get on in that first week…
Maybe the day-to-day running of the business will get in the way…
Maybe they’ll never find the time…
Either way, they’re already on the back foot.
See ‘waiting’ will always leave you in the same place (or worse, behind.)
The good news is there’s still time.
But, my friend, understand that NOW is the time to act.
Right now. Today.
Seriously, stop reading this and get moving.
Until next time.
Make More. Provide More. Be More.
