Currently, my wife is disgusted with me.
Deeply disgusted.
I was shocked and can’t see the reason for the backlash.
See, a while back I got a new car.
Now, I know what you’re thinking…
“Charlie you got a ludicrous car didn’t you?”
No.
I didn’t.
Truth is, I’m not into cars.
Fast, classic, or otherwise.
Jeremy Clarkson would be appalled by my motoring choices.
The only car I have ever loved was when I was 17.
An old 1992 pillar-box red ford Fiesta.
Bet that beaut is still running somewhere.
The only thing I care about in cars?
Comfort.
And with that in mind, the new car is a Lexus.
Emma’s reaction as the delivery fella pulled it into the driveway was priceless.
“Charlie, is T-H-A-T your new car?! That is a proper old man car!”
She isn’t wrong.
That thing is so damn comfy it’s like a sofa on wheels.
I’m half convinced that Lexus means ‘old man’ in Japanese.
And her hatred and my love got me thinking…
You can’t please everyone.
And if you try to?
That’ll leave you pleasing no one and broke.
And when you play this game for yourself…
When you take all the risks…
When you make all the sacrifices…
When you give all the hours…
I strongly suggest you please yourself.
Choose customers Y-O-U like.
Choose projects Y-O-U like.
Choose a car Y-O-U like.
Chances are that in the end, your sanity and your back pocket will thank you for it.
