Dear Mr Starmer,
I’ve got a few things to get off my chest.
It’s on behalf of small business owners in this country.
The ones who started at a kitchen table and built something of their own through graft, grit and determination.
The ones who have no old boys’ club, no corporate lobbyists, and no voice in parliament.
Can you lay off your moves that seem to be built only on old ideology and spite?
You’re taking aim at the very people who’ve kept this country afloat.
The small business owners you seem to utterly despise.
The ones who’ve been in the trenches day in, day out.
The ones who’ve created jobs, paid our dues, and kept the lights on when everything else went dark.
And what do we get in return?
More taxes.
More regulations.
More reasons to pack it in.
We’re the ones who wake up before dawn, who fight to keep our businesses alive, who struggle to make payroll, and who battle every day.
Some do well, most get by.
We’re not corporate fat cats, or non-dom tax dodgers.
We’re the lifeblood of this nation’s economy.
Yet you treat us like we’re the problem.
Like you will not be pleased until there are none of us left.
You don’t get it.
You never will.
And that’s ok.
But we’re not the enemy.
Yet the way you’re going, you’re pushing us to the brink.
Why be ambitious and work hard?
Why carry on when success is punished?
Why keep producing when your tax burden pushes out of existence?
Small businesses are now being crushed under the weight of your policies.
We’ve had enough.
We’re not asking for a handout.
We’re asking for a fair shake.
We’re asking for the chance to do what we do best: build, grow, and thrive.
But we can’t do that with your boot on our necks.
So here’s our open letter to you, Mr. Starmer.
Ease up.Give us a chance.
Because if you don’t, there won’t be any small businesses left to tax.
