But I have to be honest…
I hate this time of year.
Business wise that is.
Come mid-November and it seems the dcikhead behaviour comes out to play.
‘Flake Season’ I call it.
…. Because it seems excuses are high and execution is low.
You know the drill:
– Suppliers are slow.
– Sign-off is slow.
– Staff are slow.
Now, I’d love to say it’s totally different here and behind my closed doors.
It isn’t.
Employees are fine, I have one, Sue.
Thanks to my obsession with automation and systems she consistently churns through her checklist, Christmas or not.
B-U-T there is one area of weakness…
And it always rears its ugly head at this time of year…
Flakey men wanting to join one of my two One Man Empire groups.
In November TWO such men crossed my path.
“Charlie – please accept me, I n-e-e-d to join.”
They pass the initial process.
They get offered a seat.
They bite my arm off.
Then…
Sue calls them to take payment.
Puff…
They vanish into thin air.
Gone.
True colours shown.
Never to be seen or heard from again.
Now, I’m not going to name and shame.
They did me a favour.
A bullet was dodged.
After all I will ruthlessly protect my time and the time of the men already on this journey.
… And if someone can’t stand and deliver on their commitments, then better find out sooner rather than later.
See, if history has taught me anything it’s that John Wick’s iron law always applies.

Flake on your commitments, men remember.
Murder someone’s dog, men remember.
Reputation and trust are hard-won and easily lost.
