An insightful lesson from my son today…
He runs two little businesses.
(I don’t believe in pocket money so he had to get creative.)
One operation uses AI to create colouring books.
The other uses AI to create books.
Now the setup on these is similar.
And the effort required from him is the same.
But the profit margins?
Worlds apart.
The colouring books are around £3.
The books are over £50.
A big difference, and I bet you can guess which one is now gathering virtual dust.
And this is useful for all men in this game….
See, it’s easy to fall into the trap…
The trap of believing making more money only comes from ‘more’…
Winning more customers.
Selling more things.
Doing more work.
I was in that trap too.
Yet in my experience, after a certain point, ‘more’ only led to pain.
…More hours working into the dead of night.
…More stuff slipping through the cracks.
…More profit leaking out.
For me, more came when I simplified down for ‘better.’
Working with better customers where you charge more.
Selling a higher value product where you charge more.
And doing the same amount of work, or less.
Painful truth is, most men in this game are not charging what they are worth.
Lowballing themselves, their kids and their future.
