It’s Boxing Day and time for the big hangover, and I don’t just mean from the booze.
See, we’re now what journalists call ‘taint week.’
Yep, taint means what you think it means.
A nickname for that no man’s land between Christmas and New Year where normal time and space go out the window.
You shuffle around knee-deep in chocolate, festive movies, and leftover pigs in blankets.
A time that usually leads to reflection.
‘How has 2024 gone?’
Most of us fall into two camps…
Camp #1
Looking back and feeling good.
Maybe a faint whiff of smugness.
Money was good, life was good, the business was good.
After a festive break, they’ll be ready and raring to go.
Which brings me to:
Camp #2
Not so smug.
More like burned out, tired and jaded.
Mentally and physically.
Yes, there were some wins.
But the emotional cost was high and the material reward was low.
Now I don’t know which camp you sit in.
Maybe your year didn’t go to plan.
Maybe it did.
Either way, today I’d urge you to take a breath…
This game of owning a business is hard.
Let’s be honest, if it was easy, every fcuker would be doing it.
And the vast majority are not.
Most are too scared or too lazy.
Or both.
Truth is, very few have the grit and determination to do what you do.
So, no matter how your year went down…. good, bad, or even ugly….
If you are reading this, it’s good news.
You are here.
You made it.
You live to fight another day.
And that is worth celebrating.
See, for men like you and I, there is no one coming to pat you on the back.
So take this as one from me.
You’ve earned it.
Onward.
Make More. Provide More. Be More.
