Last week was my birthday.
Turned 42.
I’m not sure how that happened.
Last time I checked I was 25.
Anyway, I’m no big fan of my birthday.
I prefer a less is more approach, and honestly, it felt like just another day.
Except for this….
The 611 LinkedIn messages.
Yep, 611.
All the exact same message.
Two words:
“Happy Birthday.”
The heartfelt default message from LinkedIn.
How original.
Why have any patience for bullshyt?
I disconnected from them.
Because here’s the thing…
If you’re only going to pretend to care, don’t bother.
Same goes in any area of life – business, relationships, health, wealth.
It’s box-ticking at best. But that’s the world we live in, isn’t it?
People are lazy.
Half-hearted.
Thoughtless.
Doing just enough to show they “tried.”
And then being surprised when the dial isn’t moving in their favour.
Anyway…
… There’s a lesson here somewhere about if you’re going to do something in this game taking the time to personalise your messages, your marketing and your efforts.
It’s ‘How To Win Friends And Influence People’ 101.
Until next time.
