Got this last week about making sales at scale…
—
Charlie, help.
I’m a numbers guy, not a marketer, and it shows.
Everything I put out there sounds boring and bland.
I’m trying to scale but I sound like every other financial advisor on LinkedIn.
Last year I tried a local marketing company, the graphics look nice, but my numbers didn’t move – there was no uptick in sales or enquries (despite me giving them a small fortune).
How do I break out of being bland?
Pete, Surrey.

The answer is instructive.
So if you too sense, that despite being good at what you do, your message is getting lost in the noise – then I’d urge you to keep reading.
First thing first…
Recognising you’re being bland is good news.
Many in this game don’t see it.
It’s why they continue to stand still.
As a wise man once said:
“If you haven’t got anything exciting to say – don’t say it.”
Secondly, and this bit is important….
This is not a marketing problem.
It’s a YOU problem.
Let me explain….
Maybe you didn’t know where to start – so you copied others…
Maybe you didn’t have the skills – so you used an agency…
Maybe you’re scared to break industry ‘norms’ – so you kept it safe.
Either way, the end result is the same.
You end up bland.
You end up boring.
You end up broke.
… Because being blad is very dangerous and slippery slope.
It leaves your customers with only one way to choose you:
Price.
Now, I don’t know about you, but in my experience, competing on price leads to one thing and one thing only.
A deadly race to the bottom.
Which means if you want to scale up – you need to start to getting to grips with standing out like a sore thumb.
Than means starting to get your head around marketing – that’s based on how people buy at a deep rooted psychological level.
Which by the way, is easier that you think.
You just have to put YOU in it.
Make it personality drive.
Your website, your emails, and your advertising should be 100% you and about you.
How you think.
How you talk.
How you act.
Your phrases, your sayings, your slang – use all of it.
It builds rapport.
It makes connections.
It creates sales.
Will it be the Queens English?
Unlikely.
Will it drive damnation from your competitors, your employees and the grammer police?
Probably.
But what do they know – most are braindead and broke anyway.
The best part?
Doing this simplifies the heck out of your marketing.
It’s how behind my closed doors…
Matt has scaled to 101k a month after getting rid of two employees.
Steve has scaled to 76k a month with just one other member of staff.
Alan and his brother have scaled to 105k a month with 30k profit in their two-man operation.
But let me be clear.
This was not their starting point.
Before they deployed what we talked about today, most had been flatlined at £25-40K months for years – even decades.
So try it and thank me later.
… Or if you’re ready to scale to 1M+ faster and without an army of employees, let me help you personally speed up the possess. Here’s how to do that:
