After a l-o-o-o-n-g Christmas holiday, the kids around here finally go back to school next week.
Hurrah.
My son needs it.
After our snowboarding trip, he’s gone hard on the relaxation, mostly loafing about in pyjamas and eating celebrations.
After three long weeks off, this house is itching for normality.
Truth is, I’m raring to go for 2025.
But, over the new year, I was with a buddy, and turns out…
He does N-O-T feel this way.
He looked at me (and my excitement) like I was an alien from Mars.
Me: “Can’t wait to get back in the office. I’m chomping at the bit to get things started for 2025.”
Him: “Really? I’m dreading it. Monday is going to be painful.”
Despite his nice corporate salary, the swish company car, and the cushy corporate hours, he is dreading going back to his job.
And I don’t blame him.
Sounds like death by a thousand cuts to me.
…Running around for a boss you can’t stand, sitting in meetings that make your eyes bleed, making profit for shareholders you don’t know.
No thanks.
Don’t get me wrong, is running a business hard?
Yes.
At times, really bloody hard.
The graft, the grit, the determination.
The risks, the hours, the sacrifices.
The responsibility, the pressure, the grind.
But the rewards?
The rewards are worth more than money alone.
The freedom of building something of your own.
Building something that matters to you.
Building something that provides for your family.
Building something you control.
The freedom is priceless to me.
So whether you are staring down this new year in a good place or a bad one, I urge you…
Embrace the rewards this year.
Embrace the freedom.
Embrace the control.
And embrace the fact you don’t have a douchebag boss to kiss arse with.
Until next time.
Make More. Provide More. Be More.
