Big local news, as I write this…
Aston Villa are doing well.
For the first time in decades.
Now, full disclosure, I’m (still) no football fan…
Any sport where the score can be 0-0 and grown men pretend to fall over isn’t for me.
That said, I’m happy Villa are on it.
Maybe the Manager who looks like Dracula has hypnotised them all?
Either way, Barney (my son) has got in on the action.
And he’s popped his football cherry and been to a game.
His verdict?
“Epic!”
There was loud chanting, lots of swearing and eating chips.
Pretty much a 10-year-old’s dream day.
Now, this transformation of local fortunes has been interesting to watch…
Folks are noticeably excited.
There’s a buzz in the air.
Even with the backdrop of Birmingham Council robbing its people to pay for their monumental fudge-ups.
(A story for another day.)
Anyway, this atmosphere reminded me of something…
In life, winning matters.
And when you’re on a winning streak?
You experience that magical feeling where everything you touch turns to gold.
And, whilst an Average Joe has to wait for their team to come good to experience that….
Or wait around and hope that the universe hands them a win.
In this game we play, life is different….
You are in control.
You can create your own winning streak.
…Even if things haven’t been going your way lately.
It’s time to shake it off and go again.
Re-commit and go after what you want.
