Welcome to the weirdest week…
This week, something in me switches.
You’re in that weird ‘no go’ zone between Christmas and New Year.
A journalist friend delightfully calls this week ‘taint week.’
Yep, it means what you think it means.
And often this ‘empty space’ sparks reflection…
How was the year?
Good? Bad? Ugly?
Now, I suspect that if you’re like most men in my world, when things have gone well, you’re very willing to take the credit.
Yet, when things don’t go to plan… or hope starts to fail and fade…
Well then, in that case, the ‘blame’ game kicks in…
.Blame the government.
.Blame the interest rates.
.Blame employees.
.Blame customers.
.Blame competitors.
.Blame Brexit.
.Blame the weather.
.Blame your ex-wife.
.Blame your current wife.
.Blame your kids.
.Blame your parents.
.Blame the dog that ate your homework.
… And here’s where it gets interesting.
The real kicker that most don’t see when it comes to naming and blaming.
When you blame others the only one that loses is…
YOU.
… Because, you stay stuck.
After all, excuses keep you looking for an exemption for what happened in the past.
… Instead of taking responsibility for what you want to happen in the future.
As Tony Robbins says:
“If you want to be more successful, take on more responsibility.”
Truth is, it’s only when I took ultimate responsibility for the mess that I’d made…
That my game changed.
So as taint week rolls on I’d urge you to consider that whatever your goal is for next year – money, business, fitness, happiness or otherwise…
Kill All Excuses.
Your success in 2024 rests on your shoulders.
Alone.
So stop shirking from responsibility.
I know you’re better than that.
You know you’re better than that.
Instead, let’s grab the bull by the horns and make 2024 the year you can proudly tell them all…
“Look at me now. I told you so!”
