The Time I Accidentally Went to Crufts

So, I accidentally went to Crufts…

On the way to a big country music festival.

Weird I know. Let me explain…

See, to get to this festival, I got the train, from Birmingham International, part of the big NEC arena.

And on the day I was travelling…

It was the final of Crufts.

Perhaps the biggest dog show in the world.

That place looked (and smelt) exactly how you’d think.

It was pampered pooches left, right and centre.

The stereotype of fancy dog owners played out too…

Mostly women.

Sensible shoes, smart clothes.

Sporting a dog with better hair than most people.

As one security guy helpfully pointed out…

“You’ve picked a bad day to come here, mate!”

Quite.

I got on that train quick smart.

And when I arrived at the festival something amused me…

The country stereotype played out too.

Mostly men.

Cowboy hat, belt buckle, band t-shirt.

Strong chance of a beer gut.

Now, I’m not saying everyone fits the mould.

That would be daft.

What I am saying is this – humans are social animals.

We like a tribe.

And in this game, you’d be wise to remember that and start standing for something.

See, once you ‘stand’ for something, not only do you attract customers that you like…

Meaning you’ll have a damn sight more fun working with them.

… Chances are, they’ll like you too…

So you’ll make more money to boot.

Pamper pooche or cowboy hat optional.

Until next time.
