See, yesterday I was reflecting on something from my past.
When I told my Dad I was setting up on my own two feet.
His advice was clear…
“Don’t do it. Stick with a job. You don’t know how.”
Now my Dad, he’s a good man, done everything for me and I respect him – a lot.
Yet on reflection, it seems almost all the advice from my 1980’s childhood was in the same vein.
Behave… do what you’re told… do what’s expected.
Or in other words…
Stay in your lane… stay still… stay quiet.
I’m sure it came from a good place.
Maybe it was from a place of fear of failure.
Maybe it was from a place of love and protection.
Maybe it’s ‘cos in the height of ’80s, parenting was a bottle of coke and a packet of crisps – in a fucking beer garden.
Now, whatever the reason behind the madness, mentally most men in our shoes have been programmed from young to believe that wanting more is NOT OK.
The net result being that true belief in one’s self, for most men, is often slim pickings.
In fact and even though I don’t fully know you…
I suspect that despite you having the guts and determination to do what most cannot or will not….
Deep down and behind the curtain, you wear a mask for the rest of the world to see.
See in my experience, most men in this game still believe that they are not good enough.
Yet the sad truth is, most men I speak to are more than good enough.
Many deserve it in fact.
What’s worse is most are within touching distance of true fucking greatness…
Just needing to have belief in ourselves and trust in our gut.
Making your mantra for money this week, this:
- Fuck behaving.
- Fuck standing still.
- Fuck doing what’s expected.
Instead, do what you were born to do.
Whatever YOU want.
I believe in you.
So hear me when I say this.
… YOU deserve this brother.
So let’s go punch this week square in the mouth.
Make More. Provide More. Be More.
