Annoying the trolls…

Been working hard to annoy the trolls lately. 

“Charlie, all your emails are the same. An entertaining story with a pitch at the bottom.” 

Justin, Glasgow. 

My response? 

‘No Shyt Sherlock.’

Everything I write works like that. 

Nobody wants to read stuff that is dryer than a rice cracker with a hangover.

Sometimes it’s written to rile up the righteous comment police. 

Sometimes it’s written to get your mind going a bit. 

Either way, sure as day follows night, there will be an ‘ask.’

This isn’t a charity. 

And even if it was… do you think those abandoned puppies can pay for their own dog food? 

In this game, if you like making money, you’ve gotta make the ask. 

As the Northerners say: 

‘Shy bairns get nowt.’ 

And in this scenario, if Y-O-U don’t make the ask? 

Well, your bairns (children) get nowt. 

Trouble is, too many men in this game find ‘the ask’ difficult. 

Awkward even. 

And I get it. 

Maybe that comes down to that old-fashioned British politeness.

Maybe you don’t know ‘how.’

Either way, I’d have you consider this: 

Chances are, you’re making the ‘ask’ much harder than it needs to be. 

…By not knowing W-H-A-T you’re really selling, and W-H-O you’re selling it to. 

Like this: 

“I’m a Financial Advisor I work with business owners.” 

“I’m a Structural engineer, I work with homeowners ” 

“I’m an Orthodontist, I work with braces.” 

Now, despite first impressions, these are all generalist offerings. 

And being a generalist is a pretty terrible idea if your goal is pushing to £1M+.

He can easily make the ask. 

And easily charge double for it. 

It’s how John went from the brink of bankruptcy to 65K per month.
