My wife and son have that sun-kissed glow, yet I’m still as pasty as ever…
This week, I’m back after an Easter break.
The sun, sea and vitamin D were good for the soul.
And for attacking the next quarter with a metric-fcuk-tonne of energy.
Whilst away, we went snorkeling at a famous local spot.
The tropical fish were fun…
But the human entertainment was better.
See, this supposed ‘deserted island’ was a tourist mecca.
Whilst we were there, I spotted a group of Canadians trundling up the white sand.
You could see them a mile off:
- Maple leaf beach towels.
- Maple leaf caps.
- Maple leaf backpacks.
- Maple leaf beach chairs.
Even some questionable Maple leaf tattoos were on display.
Now, Canadians will tell you they do this because they don’t want folks to think they are American.
And with the amount of ‘leaf’ on show with this group, the chances of that happening were slim to none.
Yet, the funny thing is, even when you’re in Canada that leaf is everywhere.
Find any surface and Canadians will slap a Maple on it.
Faster than you can say ‘Go Canucks.’
I like to think I’m good, but Canadians are the kings of self-aggrandisement.
And I love them for it.
Canada is great, why not shout about it?
And this is very insightful for men in this game, especially if you’re good at what you do.
See, you can wait around…
Hoping that customers will go around telling folks how great you are.
Praying they remember to introduce you to all their useful contacts.
Trusting they will put you at the top of their very long to-do list.
Or…
You can tell folks yourself.
It’s easier.
It’s quicker.
And chances, it will be much more successful than waiting around.
So, if you like money in your back pocket be a king of self-aggrandisement.
Slap your flag on anything.
And everything.
Tattoos optional.
