Three steps to 53k per month…

Warning: this is one of the longest posts you are going to read from me.


Well, because it includes the secret behind scaling a true one-man business.

A case study and blueprint if you will.

Think, going from an initial target of 4K a month (replacing a salary)… to hitting 53K a month, as just O-N-E man, with zero employees… 

… all while having the freedom for home, hobbies and holidays.

Now a big disclaimer: this model is not for everyone. 

If you want to build the next Tesco, Amazon or Walmart – stop reading now.

But if you’re happy with hitting a million, instead of a billion…

…and if you like autonomy, or dislike managing employees, then keep reading… 


Good, here’s the science of scale behind the 53K month One Man Empire in question… 

Step 1: Simplify 

Consider that the cutting of the generalist bullshit that, up to this point, has been keeping the wolf from the door.

See, generalism will get you so far, but it won’t get you scale – unless you’re willing to put up  with:

  1. Lots of volume.
  2. Lots of bodies.
  3. Lots of low prices.
  4. Lots of time
  5. Lots of sacrifices

Now, I don’t know about you, but in my mind, none of that sounds like much fun.

It’s why, scale comes from specialisation.

In fact, scale actually comes from specialising in solving problems.

It’s why if scale is the name of the game, you’d be wise to ruthlessly only focus on selling to a market that:

  • Has a problem.
  • Knows they have a problem.
  • Has money to give you to fix the problem.

Sounds simple enough, yet far too many men miss the last one.

… And are then left wondering why you’re waiting weeks, months and sometimes even years to get what you’re owed. 

Now here’s the good news…

When you choose to simplify your market, you naturally also simplify what you sell.

Normally down to a service that fixes the problem and the thorn their side.

Which means…

You can quote more because everyone is getting sold the same thing via the same process. 

You can convert more, because all of a sudden you’re a specialist and specialists gain more trust, quicker.

You can charge more because trust builds confidence and confidence get’s people to part with big chunks of cash.

Make sense?


All in and once you are done here you will have a simple, tidy, profitable model.

Step 2: Automate 

… Now when I say automate I mean removing the need for you to do stuff.

In other words putting things in place so that another human being can automatically do it for you – or even better, a machine can. 

From stuff like quoting, to customer management, to billing…. 

… To ninja shit like report writing, content creation and other shit I’ve not got time to go into here.

And I know what you’re thinking…

“Charlie you can’t automate my business or the service I offer…”

You might be right.

However, it’s important to note that in most cases the automations, systems and AI isn’t ‘doing the do’ of the business. 

It’s doing EVERYTHING around it. 

Alleviating the grunt work, keeping customers happy, and bringing in more money. 

… Without you having to lift a finger.

The best thing about automations?

You don’t have to deal with sick leave, moaning, or emotional baggage.

And remember…

You know it’s automated. 

I know it’s automated.

… But the customer doesn’t have a clue.

They just think you’re ruthlessly efficient and on the ball.

In other words, by the time you’re done here, you have a sausage factory that delivers what you do – consistently and like clockwork.

Sound good?

Perfect, in which case let’s move on…

Step 3: Scale 

The easiest step of all. 

Fill the sausage factory with fresh meat – prospects.

In other words, you put prospects in one end, and get profitable (happy) customers out the other.

What some have called, a license to print money:

Will it all be plain sailing? 

Of course not. 

It never is.

That’s business and things always go sideways.

However, in my experience, this is the simplest way to push to 1M+ without needing an army of employees or breaking your back in the process.

The 53K month in question was from a Glaswegian in one of my groups who, post-COVID, sacked all nine of his employees and followed these steps to the tee…

… In an engineering business.

Arguably one of the toughest services to systemise and automate under the sun.

Yet here he is:

  • One man
  • One business
  • One service
  • No employees
  • £53k per Month

The proof in the pudding.

And he’s not the only one.

Last month alone there was also:

… Alan and his brother scaled to 105k month with 30k profit in their two-man operation.

… Matt from Wolverhampton scaled to 101k month after getting rid of two employees.

… Paul from N. Wales scaled to 115k month for the first time ever with his small five-man team.

… John scaled to 48k month with three employees in his irrigation business.

… Steve scaled to 76k month with just one other member of staff.
